Here in America, people have become accustomed to using technology in their daily lives. Some people need the technology in order to stay in touch with their loved ones. Some people use technology to keep themselves entertained. But is it going too fast?
People can argue that technology has advanced too far and corrupted the newer generations. Without technology, kids and teens wouldn't know how to function, because they rely entirely on their iphones, wireless remotes and even kitchen appliances that do everything for them! If the new generations don't learn to do things for themselves, how will they function later in life?
Let's play out a scenario:
Tasha is a 17 year old girl living in Wyoming. She lives a technological life, she has an iphone, ipad, flat screen tv, house-cleaning robots, several new game systems (WiiU, 3DS, Xbox 1, PS 4) and technological kitchen. She's never had to worry about learning things for herself. She's very outgoing and caring to her friends. Her house has electric heat.
Lexi is also a 17 year old girl in Wyoming. She lives a technological life as well, but she has more simpler things; she has an iphone, flat screen tv, a few old game systems (Gameboy color, Nintendo 64) and she has an oven that checks the temperature and adjusts accordingly. She's shy and quiet, but a wonderful friend. Her house is gas heat.
Jacque is 18 years and lives in Wyoming. She leads a fairly simple live. She has a Motorola phone. Her tv is a small flat screen. She has a coal burning stove and gas heat.
These three girls go to the same college and are friends. They live in Cheyenne.
During a snow storm, the power in the city is wiped out, leaving many without electric and heat.
Tasha's home is electric heat, meaning she's without heat until the power comes on.
Lexi's home is gas heat, meaning she has heat but she can't cook any food.
Jacque's home is gas heat, meaning she has heat. She also has a coal stove, meaning she can also cook food.
Yes, Technology is very useful and entertaining, but it can also lead to a lot of problems if they're suddenly taken away. I believe that we should stop using so much technology and enjoy a simpler life.
